It's kind of hard to feel like they represent regions well because game design takes precedence, and there were a lot of foreign elements due to that. Castelia felt really right, though.

Also, motherfucking Hydreigon was in Unova, so its awesome for that alone.

I don't think the point was to pretend we're all from that part of the country. They used the biggest, most well-known city in the country to represent us. You personally may feel that it didn't represent YOU, but it was definitely the best choice overall.

It's pretty well known how much of a shit hole New York is as a city. It's also a fact that the majority of the US population doesn't live in large cities like New York, so trying to represent us with one is a mistake. Then there's the fact that the US is so large that the environment is incredibly varied and can't be represented by a shitty New England expy at all.
