The biggest waste of a "slot" was salamence. it has a weak design, even befre mega, and isn't going to be anything different, aside from flying stab. Lopunny is unique and interesting, and has a decent design.

- popularity (tyranitar, metagross, blaziken)
- creator's pets (gyarados, scizor, azumarill)
- need (lopunny, mawile, ampharos)

What's not to like? It's streamlined, fast, keeps the basic color scheme and the sleeker body combined with the more imposing wingspan makes it look much more capable in battle than regular Mence. It looks like a surface-to-air missle with wings.

I like it for its uniquely fast defensive stat spread and support options. I greatly enjoy using its unshared niche in being able to Switcheroo Assault Vest onto defensive mons, sometimes causing them to basically Struggle for the rest of the match.
I always liked its movepool and wished it had better stats to back it up (had no offensive setup moves except Work Up in Gen 5 and Power Up Punch in Gen 6 to back ups its great offensive moves).

To have a Scrappy offensive based Mega evo is exciting, and I don't even like how it looks much.
