Will either be a top-threat in OU or a lesser threat in Ubers. Stats will probably be great, but compared to Mega-Pinsir he lacks SD and a Priority Attack and compared to Mega Charizard X his STAB coverage is not as good and he will probably be more predictable. However due to better stats he's likely going to be on pair with them or slightly better. However, if by any chance he gets extremespeed he will definitely be banned to Ubers and be relevant even there.

These stats are pretty unrealistic but M-Lopunny will suck anyway. There are many better Megas so noone will use it in OU. Might be dangerous in UU, though.

Most difficult to predict but I'm pretty sure it will not make it to OU and if it does it wil be at the bottom of the tier. Dragon/Fairy is by far not as great of a typing as people think it is. In fact it's a pretty shitty typing, because the synergy is just bad. Dragon covers for none of fairys weaknesses and fairy only covers for dragons weakness to itself. Offensively they have a common type that resists them both in steel.

This is the most shallow examination of a typing ever. Dragon/Fairy, the resists and weaknesses it has, is amazingly good.

Anyway it's hard to theorymon this shit without their base stats. Like all the predictions people had in August were, for the most part, hilariously inaccurate.

Just cuz they both get "big" boosts doesn't mean it's the same. I personally hope if one gets a little more that it's Attack for Bulky Dragon Dancing purposes. Either that or round out it's suite of sound-based moves by giving it Boomburst via breeding.

In terms of "not gonna happen" or "dear lord, save us"? I don't think it's likely but it would be a perfect attack on cleric/support sets to dish damage without much investment, and the Altaria family has a lot of singing themes and sound attacks.

Fair nuff. I agree, and I prefer the idea of DD Megaltaria or support sits. I'm still intrigued by the idea. It gets Sing, Perish Song, and Hyper Voice, plus it's the Humming Pokemon and is in the same egg group as Noivern, Chatot, and Swellow. Food for thought.

Considering the stats it'll probably end up with, both are equally viable.
You could go for a DD/Roost/Return/EQ bulky attacker, a supporter with some combo of Cotton Guard/Roost/Heal Bell/Safeguard/An attack/etc, and potentially even a special attacker (especially if it somehow DID get Boomburst like people were speculating earlier). The presence of more than one set option will allow it to play multiple roles, and that versatility would make it a bit unpredictable.

Nigga, what are you smoking? Those stats are beyond ridiculous, especially for Lopunny. The most I could see is its attack going up to 116 or something.

Face it, mega Pokemon always receive extra stats in a place they don't want/need (Mega Gardevoir getting attack boost for instaqnce) or lose a vital stat (Garchomp's speed). There's no way these Megas will have such an ideal spread of base stats.

Lopunny, I think ridiculous gains aren't unreasonable. The only other mega to lose weight is mewtwo-y, conversely the only one to lose defences and gain stupid amounts of attack/spa. There's a precedent, it could go 136 or higher.

Then again, look at mawile. Not a single badly distributed point. Think they won't pull that again?

M-Mence looks like it can go straight extremely fast, but that also indicates a LOW Speed stat.
The fastest flying Pokémon according to the Pokédex is Dragonite (circling the globe in 16 hours) and it got 80 base Speed. Next up is probably Pidgeot (mach 2, 91 base), with stuff like Golurk (mach 1, 55 base) coming close. Even Skarmory has its high flying speed mentioned (180mph, 70 base).
The Speed stat refers to maneuvarabilty, reaction speed and short-distance acceleration, which is why shit like Alakazam (which cannot even run really) and Accelgor have high values here. Of course, there are also mons that are both fast and maneuverable (Talonflame for example), but tbh, M-Mence looks more like a rocket to me....

Tbh, I fear its defensive capabilities much more than anything else. With Intimidate and the Defense boost in M-Form, M-Mence could possibly come in on and STOP physical setup from enemies (all while setting up itself), which would be the main argument for banning it.
Also, I wouldn't trust GF press releases on this, they were a bit off in XY as well.

I'm picturing M-Altaria turning out as a powerful, popular, but somewhat uncommon choice in competitive play. The battle for the coveted Mega Slot may keep it's usage low enough to stay out of OU, but I see it as a fully viable, valuable niche mon, even if it means it has to clean house in UU when not plying it's trade in standard play. There's been a couple of Megas like that already (though some may be/have moved up). Good bulk, good typing, good ability, and improved offenses. What's not to love?

it will resist:
fighting
bug
fire
water
grass
electric
dark

it also packs a complete immunity to dragon, and is only weak to ice, poison, and steel while taking neutral damage from all other types. youre full of shit chief

It honestly might get to OU. Yeah there's competition, but we have eleven pokemon who can M-Evolve in OU and a bunch have bad base forms (Zard/Venu/Garde/Cham/Pinsir/Manec/Mawile.)

The cutoff is 3.41%, that's approx. one in every thirty teams. And imo it'll get really high usage, as a wallmon the number of things it can take on is really impressive.

However, M-Salamence's fire will hurt. That is a given. Scizor doesn't resist Flying anyway, so I don't think it'd be a good match up for it, at most just hoping to get some damage in with Bullet Punch.

I just realized that Altaria needs a +40 on both attacking stats just to have 110 on them, that just leaves it with 20 free points to spend somewhere else, probably the lowish defense, in comparison with a measly +20 Salamence will wreck shit with Aerilate Return or Double Edge, i never noticed that Altaria was a shitty dragon in terms of offense.

That's likely why they're boosting it, actually.

Altaria's largest issue was having no offensive presence. It's got usable defenses as is, especially when compounded with a great defensive moveset and an amazing defensive ability. It'll be fine with that.

MegaMence gets banned after 3 weeks in OU, everyone cheers.
Mega Altaria stays low OU for a while while being a good support mega with decent offensive set to mix things up
Mega Lopunny stays Middle of UU at best and BL2 at worst. UU is getting so cramped with megas that its very possible Lopunny won't have a spot. And surely the weakest links of the UU megas like Houndoom will get knocked off when ORAS comes out.
