I remember looking for Shroomish in my copy of Sapphire (to transfer) and by complete luck I found a shiny Zigzagzoon. It was my first ever legit shiny, so I was fuckin' excited.

Surskit clutched and helped me catch that fucker (everything else was overleveled and would've OHKO'd it)

My first shiny was when I was playing HG in Jap because I was too impatient to wait for it to come out here. This was shortly followed by the worst possible thing, hatching a Shiny Charmander on my FR so I could transfer it to my English HG for dex completion.

Later on, in the days of BW2, I had once again transferred that Shiny Charizard up just for the sake of it, when my brother who wanted a Charmander asked if he could have one, so I said "sure, here, breed one for yourself, do whatever with it." And of course, my Shiny Charizard had a Shiny baby in the first two eggs.

So first shiny. I was playing through Platinum for the first time, and all my friends and everyone I knew was trading over legendaries and level 100s and shit to breeze through the E4. But I said no. I wasn't going to cheat like that, my bros had worked hard to bring me up to this point and they deserve this victory themselves, the right way!

So late one night I'm grinding in victory road, trying to get my bros strong enough to take them on, and I run into a Rhydon. Except something is just a little off about this Rhydon. And then it hits me. HOLY SHIT IT'S A SHINY. So I catch that Rhydon, and I give him the protector so he can be a bad ass shiny Rhyperior.

So I was in the pokemon safari when I came across a shiny quiladin! It was so unexpected! I've gotten shinies in the past but it was through breedibg. I knew I could nab this shiny because I had my false swipe scion on me. So I false swipe it and bring it down to 1 hp! I was recording this to rub it in his face when all of a sudden it uses take down... I've never been so sad so fast before. The best thing was that I forgot to hit record so at least my humiliation wasn't on camera

My first shiny encounter wasn't techinically mine. I was watching my friend play his Sapphire game and he got a shiny Nincada (successfully caught). It was even more amazing because as you know, when it evolves you get shiny Ninjask AND Shedinja. 2 for the price of 1.

Apparently. I didn't find out what happened until I I started playing, and saw one of the non shinies.

I opted out of gens 3 and 4, and never saw a shiny in gen 2, from what I remember.
