It can't replace the breeding process, but it can still speed it up. You can use it to get hidden abilities without the friend safari, as well as check eggs without having to hatch them using keySAV. Plus you can change the gender of a pokemon to make it easier when passing down egg moves. When you are all done, you can also delete all the eggs you don't want instead of hatching all of them.
