Auldey figures seem to be hard to find MIP like that. Definitely don't open them. People pay A LOT of money for shit that's MIP like that... especially for Auldey and Tomy figures. Check out that pkmncollectors community; shit's ridiculous.

Nearly every child of friends that I've known forever love the fuck out of Pokemon.. Like, toddler kids.

I have a large cheap tacklebox from my own childhood with almost all of the original toys that came out when Pocketmen was a newer thing inside ( some Digimon shit, too ).. Definitely handing them down to my kids whenever that happens.

Weird the box smells like the house I grew up in and sends me into a nostalgic trance every time it's opened.

The difference between pre-ordering then and now, is that pre-orders back then actually meant something because they didn't always produce enough games at launch. So if it were a popular game, you could expect it to be sold out on day 1.

There were two sets. One came out in 1996 and then they did a second release in 1998, which I believe had different packaging. I know that doesn't help, but that's a little back info.

To be fair, there are actually quite a few Pokemon cards that are worth a decent amount.

Problem is, people collected the wrong thing. Most of the stuff that is actually worth anything is the Japanese promo cards that are harder to come by now or the vending machine cards that have not been peeled yet. That or the 1st edition booster packs that have become rare.

Thing is, the majority of the american shit was so massed produced that it has no value.

The old TOMY figures are worth jack shit- you can get them on various trading forums for 1-2$ each. I just went into a collectibles shop in the mall and they had mint unopened packages of the entire evo lines of Squirtle and Charmander for $11 each.

The only Pokemon merch besides plush that's worth anything are the 1/40 scale zukan gachapon figures, I've seen some of them go for 80+. (pic related)

There are some rare ones though, Ditto, Pidgeotto, Nidorino, and Ghastly just to nae a few.

There are multiple "buy it nows" marked at the 35 range. Additionally, Troll and Toad also sells them for 35 dollars, and they have a bunch available.

Just because 1 person out the billions that we have in the world didn't know how to properly shop, check prices, and check competitor prices doesn't mean that the cards base standard value is 35 dollars.

Do you know what standard market value means?

I was simply pointing out that someone who thinks they can sell that card for $100 is not that far off, considering they can absolutely sell it for around $75 if they hold out for it. It happens often enough that you don't need to pretend it's some one-in-a-million outlier, you immense asshole.
