Type is Flying. You hop in an early-20th-century biplane and shoot puffs of smoke at the followers, who are also in planes. When they're "hit," you land and battle them. This is all in 3D, but hopefully not too difficult.

Leader is Amelia, a 20-something with short blonde hair and a total pilot getup. You battle her on the underside of a huge blimp.

Rotom-Fan/Drifblim/Flygon/Yanmega.

Rematch is Rotom-Fan/Drifblim/Skarmory/Flygon/Mantine/Yanmega.

Her followers are all Pilots who try to emulate their leader's century-old fashion sense.

Badge is the Pilot Badge, ofc.

You get a bunch of hints from trainers you battle about a row of men dressed the same way in the main gym leader room. One of them is the actual gym leader and tge rest are frauds.
You can use all the hints in a professor layton-esque way to solve the puzzle and find out who the true leader is. His main mon would be Zoroark

Gym Leader is the first ever as playable in the game dual type specialist. Blue's a themeless leader, so this seems fair enough
Leader is a self important, calculative, hipster guru girl that plays the mandolin.
Specializes in Ghost and Normal types if a Ghost/Normal type is ever made, it'd be her signature Pokemon and whatever Pokemon she has always has a secondary move that covers everything it's STAB cannot.
Emphasizes the idea of duality and balance, and her followers train to match this idealism. Expect a battle against a boltbeam user, or a someone with Rock Slide and Bulldoze.
Team is Mismagius and Purugly for pure ghost and normal, plus Haunter and Jigglypuff for a hidden Fairy/Poison coverage that will show up in the Rematch. Rematch team also brings in a Froslass that can boltbeaming , and a Diggersby that can also edgequake.
Gym is a maze of halls with minimalist style white.
Badge is the Harmony Badge.

Leader: Miles

He is an ace pilot who is a world famous pioneer in aviation (in a Howard Huhges kind of way). His gym is based in the city's international airport, which can be used as a transportation method to the Battle Frontier later in the game.
The airport also serves as the town's mall area, containing all sorts battle items with the "duty free" joke behind it. Beforehand, you go through a quick TSA security check to enter.

As for the actual gym, I have 2 ideas:

1. The gym itself is actually a jumbo jet that takes off when you enter it. Not quite sure what the interior would be like, but you'll be battling flight attendants and maybe fellow passengers. Your goal is to reach the cockpit, where Miles is waiting.

2. The gym is the entire baggage transportation system where you have to change direction of the conveyor belts a la pokeball factory in XY. You get loaded onto an airplane where Miles is waiting.

Miles' personality is fairly calm and collected. However, he gets giddy when it comes to battling and flying.
His pre battle quote would be about the heights he's reached in both battling and aviation.

Not very good with setting up competitive teams, but his main mon is a Noivern.
