>>20465445That would be nice to believe, but it isn't so. LA prior to the riots had many shops and a really nice mall. If you visit you'll still see plenty of empty lots all around the bad areas (southcentral, and east LA). When tensions were getting high, there was "white flight". Meaning white people (the ones with the money at the time) left for more suburban areas. Then the people burnt down shops and looted. Made no sense for businesses to stay and rebuild when the money left and there was a huge inherent risk. So they left.
Then drug trades and other black markets can enter impoverished neighborhoods for cheap labor. Out of desperation they cling to it. Some money flows in but crime rates naturally sky rocket. Gangs form, etc etc
Dont want to get too political, but yea. Putting poor people in neighborhoods makes the community worse.
