Still can't believe it. So hold on, is it a temporary devolution kinda like how Mega Evolutions are in the battles or does the effects of such ability actually hinder back your pokemon both in the battle and outside of it and you have to evolve it again?

If true then just temporal, until end of battle or you switch. It would spice battles/metas that's for sure, specially if it is a tutor move for fairy types which you know are those mischievous things in many lores

Why would it 'devolve' if it wasn't targeted with any attack? The replacement was a simple error in the screenshot; perhaps they needed to restart the game for whatever reason and fucking forgot what Pokemon they had out, it's Game Freak and/or Koreans, do you expect them to have any shred of intelligence?
