what do you guys think about monotype runs? are they fun or just tedious? never tried one before, but I'm thinking about it. I just used random.org and got water as the type.

It depends on the type you go with and how common said type is in that game, if you're going water then its pretty easy mode.

I did a mono-bug run in X after bank came out, i moved all my good mons to bank, restarted, and moved a bunch of bugs i bred back into the new game. It was fun, and a challenge.

My nuzlocke in FireRed became pretty much a monotype run by the end of it. It was pretty cool. Sort of hard to do monotype runs without outside help in other regions though

it's pretty easy in xy imo. you can use wondertrade, there's plenty of pokemon on every route etc.

Did a steel monotype run in Platinum. It was a nice challenge. I thought of doing a nuzlocke along with it and I'm very glad I didn't.

It's honestly pretty fun. I mean, it's not challenging, usually. But it's fun.

I've done Normal in FR, and Bug, Ghost, Rock, Electric, Water, and Flying in X. The most fun was Water, because I used pure Water-types only.

When you no longer have types to manipulate, each pokémon's role in your party has to be determined by other things, like stats and items.

If you want to do a monotype run and be thematically appropriate, do a mono-Ground run of (Omega) Ruby or a mono-Water run of (Alpha) Sapphire.

I attempted to do a grass run in Emerald since there's an abundance of Grass types early on in the game. I didn't finish though.

op here, water run is going quite smoothly so far. got my first badge. I currently have Eevee and Bidoof in my team,though. Is that cheating? They evolve into water types, but I'm not sure.

First time through White I went monotype grass

Shit was pretty great. I love Unova's grassmons.

Only problem I had was with movesets. Most only learned like grass and normal moves besides Deerling. I had to leech seed stall against N's Klingklang only to find out it was a zoroark which is why it was using flamethrower.

It gets pretty frustrating depending on the type you choose. Like, dragon would have no problems ever but Water should be fine. Water type's varied as fuck.

I've done a few in VW2. They're fun, although some gyms are awful to go through. Trying to fight Roxie with a Litwick was awful even with +6 to evasion.

Granted it makes Ruby Easy modo, but that's how the legendaries stack up as well.
