Why is Scyther NU?

It should be UU.

I think it's just been forgotten about. Sneaky Stones are less common in UU and with the Defog buff, basically a Non issue.

any bulk it has is negated by its awful typing. mega pinsir can only work with it because of its powerful priority.
s.r isn't as rare as you would think, and even the possibility that someone would set it up prevents people from using him.
he's a good attacker and possibly a decent passer, but can't do much outside of that

Well there was a time when it was RU but the powercreep and knock off spam became more prominent.
Bug/Flying doesn't help either with those weaknesses 4x weakness to rocks, when it comes to u-turning it isn't that good even if stealthies are less common because they're always still a factor unless you keep a spinner/defogger.

I don't know. He was RU or UU last gen depending which set you used. I don't know what knocked it down that low this gen.

I guess scizor just seems more like the better choice to use competitively. I still love scyther tho.

I actually play UU and I'm calling you out on your bullshit. SR is ubiquitous. Defog is about as common in UU as Rapid Spin is in OU, and by that I mean not at all. There's also the fact that almost all of the best attackers are fire types which can easily OHKO Scyther, and everything that can't OHKO it can wall it to hell and back. Pursuit means jack shit when everything has a ton of defense, is a Fairy, or has U-turn.

It belongs in NU.

Oh I should elaborate: Specifically Defog is uncommon, but Rapid Spin is extremely common in UU. That doesn't stop SR from being common though.

Scyther's problem in UU is too many good fire and flying types (Fire Rotom, Entei, Arcanine, Crobat, Honchcrow, guys like that). Also, Stealth rocks, which are pretty common on guys like Utility Mew, Forretress, Nidoqueen/King and Bulky Aerodactyl.

In RU, stealth rock comes up even more thanks to the slowed down metagame. Also, Moltres, Fletchinder, and Registeel shit all over him.

He isn't even that good in NU because Rock types are everywhere thanks to all those Mediocre fossil guys, Golem, and Regirock being pretty common.

Scyther is really easy to wall and too frail for eviolite to make a difference. The only place he's any good is LC, where he's banned.
