Im curious about something regarding the future of X/Y

With the release of the remakes coming in, what would happen to Pokemon X/Y? In terms of populace in trading and battling, will it "die"?


Will there no longer be event battle competitions, or anyone from this place or the known "competitive" scene (irl comps and the youtube, or Japanese players)?


I hope not, considering the game is short from being a year old and the time invested in it would seem a waste.
