I hope they still do an occasional cross-gen evolution, as it makes more sense than a mega in many cases. For example, I'd love to see Farfetch'd getting some new attention, but it has a signature item that obviously couldn't be used with a mega stone. On the other hand, mega evolutions are the only way that Pokemon which have already evolved twice can get an extra buff.
In other news, everyone is hyped for the announcement of Mega Flygon, right?!?
