Well my first pokemon game was Gold and after playing almost every main-series pokemon game (Besides black and white) I can honestly still say Hoenn is my favorite region.

I just like the overall designs and the region its self has a good balance of water and land in my opinion.

Plus my favorite team is Team Aqua so there's that.

To be honest, I never hated Hoenn. It was just my least favorite region.
I like all of the regions and generations, I just like certain ones more. It's a matter of personal taste, really.

The first games were great, but there's a whole lot wrong with them, and they really haven't aged well. FRLG are better than Red and Blue, and HGSS are better than their originals, too.
ORAS are going to be better than Ruby and Sapphire, too.

I can't wait for Sinnoh remakes on the 4DS
