Hi /vp/, I heard that using rare candies does not increase pokemon stats. Is that true? And what about items like HP Up? Do they have any negative effects?

theoretically. Basically leveling Pokemon to level 100 via rare candies is the same as capturing a wild Pokemon at level one hundred. It won't gain the EVs. I think if you EV train it and level it up with rare candies, it'll still be a strong as a traditionally trained pokemon

This is correct. Rare Candies don't give EVs, but if you max EV trained at level 1 (such as super training) and use 99 rare candies, it'll be max stats.
Vitamins won't raise a stat above 100 EVs, so the remaining 152 EVs are up to you to train at that point

You're correct, but since gen v you can also ev train at lv100 unlike past gens where you had to use the box trick, so spam sem candies

Which means, your mons will get the level you want, but will be weak as fuck.
