And it's not hard to see why people might think that she's been all "m-muh Satoshi" up until now. You may argue against it, but up until as of late, her focus episode have always ended on a note of wanting to impress Ash or being about her crush on him in SOME fashion. And that is "uncomfortable" to some people. Same can be said of fashion. Fashion for the sake of fashion like Serena is into has nothing to do with Pokemon really. Or at least how she's presented it as an interest for her.

Personally, I saw the first Poke Vision episode as an excellent balance for Serena's type of character. You had her bonding with her Pokemon, had it get stronger as a result, and you tossed in a little spaghetti. For her type of character, I think that's fine.
I think people get too wrapped up in minor things and think it "destroys" the character. I remember some people calling the picture scene in XY31 (?) "selfish", and "disgusting" because everyone else was all "HAHA FRIENDSHIP", and Serena was off on her own daydreaming about her and Ash in the picture.
