After the reveal of Mega Audino, I've only now realised that Gen 5 specifically gets a shit ton of hate. Why is that?
I personally think it's one of the better generations and it has a ton of great Pokemon.
Discuss I guess? and post some of your favourite Gen 5 Pokemon.

Gen V has its fans and haters, just like every other gen.

Personally, it's my favorite by a longshot. I love most of the Pokemon it introduced, the region while admittedly linear, is very pretty, the music is the best of any gen, and the NPCs actually have some character.

If you can argue one incredibly popular subjective opinion like that, it makes it a lot easier to branch out and stuff.
Since everyone has rose tinted goggles, it's harder to do the same with the older gens despite stuff like baby Pokemon. And Gen 4 didn't really have anything too bad to specifically point out while Gen 6 is too new and popular to hate too much.
I assume by Gen 7, people are just gonna hate Gens 5 and 6 only for Garbodor, Klefki, and Vanilluxe.

Biggest thing I hated about gen 5 was in black and white 2 you kept getting stopped from progressing with stupid reasons. Like those dumb dancers "we started dancing for no reason and we'll leave for no reason" I hated it so badly! Also not being able to catch the legendary before the elite 4 was extremely dumb. Order them that though I liked it

I still like gen 5, it's solid. I give it credit for being the last good gen, but I hate how rushed it was towards the end

BW by itself really wasn't the best. I liked the idea of having strictly Gen V mons in there, but I hated stuff like being stopped every 10 steps by Bimbo and Losing Mcgee. Genwunners are people who only like Gen 1 and believe that only this generation of Pokemon are the real ones. Actual genwunners are pretty rare to see especially here and are sometimes used as a scapegoat, but these people do exist. They just usually aren't very relevant.

Not gonna lie I hated most of gen5's designs, Audino included. The whole reboot idea was kinda stupid for me; a completely new set of Pokémon without links to past gens & many Pokémon are just goddamn clones of popular ones in gen1-2. But I actually came to like Trubbish & Garbador...
When Audino got a Mega I found it looking much better & embracing more the fairy design than the "I wanna be a Chansey!!!1" design. The idea of a devolution beam is very interesting & exciting but I know it'll probably not happen.
I never played B/W/2 but intend to play soon, I see that /vp/ agrees they had good stories & I wanna see for myself.

Every gen has haters and lovers, that's inevitable. But there's a clear, CLEAR shift in common opinion. Often.

Remember how much shit 3rd gen pokemon got before ORAS? Yeah, now it's practically in the fan league with 1st and 2nd gen.

As a common figure, whatever's the 2nd and 3rd newest gen usually get a lot of hate, until it settles in with people. 4th gen was getting a ton of shit too not too long ago.

Agreed. The starters have a big impact on people's perceptions, though, which is sad.

Since it was a "reboot" (as /vp/ likes to call it, for some reason), it had a full gen of new pokemon, no cross-gen evos. We got a shit ton of pokemon that gen, and a hefty amount of great ones.

I actually had a hard time picking teams in that gen, even after ditching the starter.
