Gens 1 & 5 have a lot of parallels, but they're all over

I always saw Magmar, Electabuzz, and Jynx as a sort of trio. They were all one-stage lone weirdos clustered together at the end of the 'Dex with humanoid forms and RPG magic typing.

Too bad Game Freak only saw them as a duo and shafted Jynx out of an evolution when the other two got one.

I view Luxray and Ampharos both as 'easy early electric types'. One is offensive, the other defensive. They complement.

Neither is particularly good at either normally, though- they're route-shitmons. I suppose that solidifies your point.
Ampharos is the one with the mega that makes it useful, though.
