Seriously, I just beat Team Flare and this is SERIOUSLY the payoff I get? I thought the professor being friends with the evil team leader would have some plot significance and I get THIS bullshit instead?

Her too, they seemed to be really good friends with Lysandre, which made me think there were the three leaders of Team Flare. I would really enjoy the remake/s if they pulled off a twist like this.

Someone mentioned a suggestion in a thread a while back that actually sounded pretty good, and played into the character pretty well.

Basically there's that detail where you need to pay to get into Team Flare not matching up with Lysandre's supposed personality. He suggested that instead, have one of the admins be the one that came up with that rule while Lysandre was busy tinkering with his Ultimate Weapon, because it matches with Lysandre's failed humanitarian efforts. Basically he sucks ass at judging character which is what led to his past failures and even stains his ultimate plan to only keep "good" people in the world.

Honestly I thought Lysandre's story was probably the darkest/most tragic of all the villains, it's just offset by how Kalos has people at every corner giving you Pokemon and items, and the fact that Team Flare barely appears. It's too bad. It would be really nice if Pokemon Z or whatever fixed the plot issues, I think it has potential to be better than BW1's story.

It's not his fault Black and White (and Black 2 and White 2 to a lesser extent) took the plot in Pokemon to an all-time high only to have X and Y bring it back down below the quality of Red and Blue.

I don't like XY's story very much, but I honestly wonder when's the last time all you people that never stop complaining about it actually played any non-BW games. The stories was almost never important except for gen 5 where they stopped you at basically every town and reminded you there was a plot going on. And of gen 5, really only BW had a good story because it was "about" something, BW2's story was basically the same "stop evil people" shit as the rest of the series.

And a lot of the reason BW1 even worked was because they were trying to subvert patterns that have been in the series for like 15 years, like the fact you don't actually battle the champion the first time through.

Honestly the only thing I think BW1 has over other games is N. He's obvious husbando-bait, but he's also an actual character that challenges the player with something to think about. I can't think of another character that does the same thing in any of the other games.

Nah, I liked X and Y. People on /vp/ always get fannyflustered because of the Exp. Share and how it makes the game easier, but I liked having a team that matched those of the elite four for once. This was my first game since Emerald, just fyi. Though once you get the dex filled and the Looker Bureau side-story done, post-game is pretty weak. Good game, but weak post-game.
