>upgraded Johto is the shitIronically, even though HGSS was Gen 4, it does a better job evoking a GBA SP than the upgraded Kanto Dex, while still looking notably DS-ish. Sleek, simple, definitely like it.
>Unova pretends to be a 2DS before the 2DS was ever a thingSimilar sleek form factor and neat design, but it does lose much of the homage factor now. Incorporating two screens when they might as well be one is a bit odd, and it's trying too hard to look like an Apple device.
>Kalos is Star Trek shitIt does the same thing of combining the screens that I'm a little "eh" on with Unova, but it also looks like it belongs even more with the insane magical future tech of the Pokémon world by basically being a PADD. I'm okay with this.

It's a much better homage than the other two, looks legitimately functional, is lower-tech without basically being a Rolodex, and now I want a system that actually looks like this. Only thing is it still keeps the dumb ball on the left side. Maybe that's homaging a peripheral that I'm not recalling.
