May and Dawn were also fan-service, and they were at least trying to be trainers. I would think that the writers would have given her at least 1 other Poke by now, something cute and small like a Flabébé or a Mareep.

Wish her and that mirrored version of her switched. Least the generic tsundere was more entertaining than a mary sue literally designed to be a poorly and awkwardly constructed love interest.

Looking how the next episode might play out, it seems she's going to be a little more active in doing general trainer stuff, but won't have a goal. It's already been hinted that she's going to catch a Pancham later on and she's getting involved in a 3v3 team battle.

Well, the whole thing that they've done with Serena is promote bonding with Pokemon through Amie. That's the only consistent thing they've done with Serena, so I figure she'll be goalless, but pretty much start doing more normal trainer things like battle and catch Pokemon. That, and the only thing she's pretty much done since its introduction was make PokePuffs.
