You know how series like Zelda, Harvest Moon, and Mario have little voice clips but not full dialogue? Would you guys be okay with Pokemon having it?

I am actually disturbed that pokemon hasn't done this yet. At least for story npcs and elite 4. Should have started in Gen V with the Xtranceiver

1. Pikachu is fully voiced.
2. The problem is not the voice but that it uses its anime cry. If they used something like Origins did it'd be easier on the ears. Pokemon in the games don't say their names.

They do say their names though. They say their names in Japanese, but they sound more sounds from 8-bit/16-bit games.

Audio actually takes up more space on the cartridge than anything else.

Pokemon is international. Voice clips means translations. There is a certain charm to not having voices.

He's partially right. There a good number of cries designed after the original names. Others are supposed to represent more organic noises.

I hear "Pikachu" in Pikachu's old cry but that's it. They're meant at most to sound similar to their name but not literally be saying it, like a dog barking something that vaguely sounds like "dog".

Chansey (Lucky), Voltorb (Biriridama), and Exeggcute (Tamatama) are three lines which clearly mimic the Japanese names

Pidgey (Poppo), Spearow (Onisuzume) and Ratatta (Koratta) are some that utilize one of the main vowel sounds.

This trend continued up until gen 5.

This is what I'd like to see. N64 era games like DK64, Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time used brief voice samples. DK used brits, Mario used a mix of murricans and nips, while Ocarina was solely nips.

As kids, we were none the wiser.
