I don't get why people shit on Ash so much for not winning everything he's ever entered. The battles in the anime would be a lot harder than a turn-based game for kids.

The show teaches the completely correct ideal that it isn't about winning and losing, its about fighting like a mother fucker then gritting your teeth and fighting some more.

Winning and losing is ambiguous and largely arbitrary in any situation other than children's sports.

Pokemon is actually a really great show, theres a lot of big idea wrapped in in some sub texts of whats happening. If you stop and think about some of the shit they get up to, and what the implications are there, even in just the indigo eps, its pretty staggering.

After indigo he wised right the fuck up. He starts calling out pokemon the show has never mentioned before, only pulling out his dex to get detailed info.

He trains better, and get better results. He beat the orange league entirely. Look at the orange islands eps, pikachu is said to be in top form, ash dosnt know shit about the orange league because he just got there, but his little trouble getting momentum and winning badges. He's not dumb.

The only reset that's really happened was in BW, and everyone ignores the series for way more reasons (Not to mention levels don't really exist in the anime). The anime just progresses at a snail's pace when it comes to any progress or development, on top of rarely mentioning past events. Even if Ash hasn't won a league there should be some sort of fame behind that, along with just better writing overall.

Of course it exist. Charizard is High leveled of his pokémons. It goes toe to toe with a Dragonite in Orange league, and you know Dragonite is lv 60.

there's plenty of reason. The character was Ash's rival and his concept demanded he not be an already experienced trainer like Paul. The rival has to cause conflict.

and for the record, Ash didn't get "reset" in DP either. Paul was an experienced trainer already and his Elekid comparable to Pikachu itself being a fairly experienced unevolved electric type already.

If they wanted to set conflict they could have had Trip use a Serperior or something. Coming in Top 4 in the hardest League he's ever been to, defeating two legendaries before he lost, and then proceeding to get his ass pounded by a trainer just starting out with a Snivy he got 5 minutes ago was the most retarded thing possible.
