Rethinking the type chart

So /vp/, I'm not going to post a pic of my ideal version of the type chart so everyone else can nitpick about it and call me a retard for making X weak/strong against Y.
Instead let's brainstorm and come up with something most of us agree with.

Here are a few facts:
1. the current type chart is a trainwreck and it's always been that way since the beginning
2. there are overpowered (steel, dragon, fairy, water) and underpowered (ice, psychic, bug) types
3. types should be balanced, but not all equal in offense and defense

Currently we have 18 types, so here's my idea:
-make 6 offensive types, 6 balanced types and 6 defensive types
-put a limit to the maximum number of resistances, weaknesses, immunities, SE, NVE and no damage match-ups. For example, no 10 resistances BS like the current steel type, like no "grass/bug being resisted by 7 types" BS.

Suggested "offensive types": fire, ice, electric, fighting, dark, rock
Suggested "balanced types": water, normal, psychic, dragon, flying, bug
Suggested "defensive types": grass, steel, poison, fairy, ground, ghost

Notice how i deliberately put the starter types (fire, water and grass) in different categories.
