Okay /vp/, suppose you're given an offer by Gamefreak. You may make one generation of your choice non-canon. This includes everything that was introduced; region, Pokémon, people, and mechanics that were introduced in it. None of which will not appear in any game in the future and are removed from any games that came out after the generation you removed.

HARD MODE: No Gen VI, though of course this is optional

Question: If I remove a gen that introduced a Pokemon, and another gen gave it an evolution, does removing the gen that introduced said Pokemon also remove the evolution?

If the answer is no, then Generation 2.

If the answer is yes, then Generation 5. I have nothing against it, it's just that it felt like an awkward set of games and didn't really introduce anything that I care much about.

Gen II. It is objectively the worst region, has the most objectively forgettable pokemon, and is the objectively worse game. The only thing it did right were day/night cycles and breeding, neither of which are important. Imagine a world where HG/SS are the first games that feature Johto, a scrapped project that was supposed to be released on the game boy, re-imagined and not-shit! Gen 1 - the game itself. Doing this destroys the franchise. I shiggy diggy
Gen 2 - Hold items, inventory sorting, breeding, day/night, happiness evolutions, Special Attack/Defense instead of one stat. Too important to lose
Gen 3 - Abilities and natures. Abilities add a lot to the game, but I don't really give a shit about natures. It's just another element of autistic min-maxing. Still too important to lose.
Gen 4 - Physical/Special split based on what the attacks actually do instead of type. Once again too important.
Gen 5 - Absolutely nothing of value
Gen 6 - Mega Evolutions. Decent choice, but I'll go with 5.
