To answer OP's question, Pokémon X/Y is getting a maintenance in November, most likely to update the features of the games to make them more compatible with OR/AS.

They haven't had the power to do things like patches in the past, I see no reason to not do it now.

ORAS imo already looks extremely blah. its not an R2S2 so the only REAL reason I would get it if there is new content I cannot otherwise get.
