Priority will still kill him.

It's a shame, Rampardos is my third favorite Pokémon but it's only actually viable in a trick room team. Perhaps a Mega could help him, but I doubt it.

Tyrantrum is going to make him completely worthless once he gets rock head, as unlike Cranidos he:

Here's what Rampardos needs:

>-45 SpAtk because this sucker needs those stats elsewhere more than most other mons
>+45 Speed to bring it to 103 Speed so it can actually hit things
>Rock Head as a second ability so you can choose between 3 nice abilities to fill different niches

There, now it's a frail as fuck glass cannon who hits like a goddamn rocket but dies super easily if you don't protect it.

I tried to make it the focus of a Trick Room team but there's Pranskter still and other priority users that shut him down. Or worse, they just switch to Blissey and let him OHKO himself on recoil. Plus, TR runs out before you can do a full sweep.

I want him to be good but he sucks.

I could see it maybe working in Triples with Rock Slide spam, especially if a fast Pokemon like Lopunny makes it move faster with After You, and given more power with Helping Hand from the other partner, block priority with Quick Guard, or maybe flinch boosting with water/fire pledges.

I've seen it work with Garchomp, so although land shark is much bulkier and much faster, I could see this guy pulling off a similar strategy.

Yep. That was the plan. I scarfed Lopunny and invested in sped and HP. Rampardos ran Atk / HP investment.

I ran Rock Slide as well, but it wasn't useful in that match.

Man, Tail Wind doesn't get enough recognition. Whimsicott and Talonflame can both use it with priority, so unlike Trick Room it doesn't get destroyed by Taunt and Fake Out.

Tail Wind is also a +2 boost, making it a double Choice Scarf for your entire team. Just have Bravest Bird soften up a target and have the strongest Rock Slide in the game (with Sheer Force and recoil-less Life Orb of course) and ruin doubles.

I think that's more fun to battle than a more standard issue VGC team, but to each his own.
