But RS Petalburg Gym and those Linoone and Zangoose were also a pain in the ass, just a warm up before Norman's RS team.
Those players who have already set their 4 or 5 Pokemon for the run are usually underlevelled before Norman and even before reaching the 5th gym itself there are other trainers with Zigzagoon and Headbutt that do quite a damage considering the base power and the stab boost, not impossible but sure difficult back in Gen3.
I'm happy more Pokemon will be viable with the retconned level up movepools and typing beside the moves special/physical split.
