Judging from the ordering, OR will be preferred for version-exclusive megas you missed in X, and AS will be preferred for version-exclusive megas you missed in Y. Kinda like B2 and W2 had the legendary that Black and White didn't, respectively.

At least, that's what I'd think since they're coming out so soon after XY, almost like a sequel, like B2W2. There's no precedent for that in remakes, of course, but HGSS also came out way later than D/P and Plat was already out at that point, so that doesn't necessarily apply here.

Point is, I got Y so AS is the one I'm leaning towards. Waiting to see if my suspicions are correct before making the final call, of course.

How difficult is it going to be to fill out the National Dex in OR/AS without another 3ds/other version you don't have/Pokebank/etc.

I don't know how I'm going to do it, especially without even owning Black and White 2.

I wanted to check the numbers on the Pokedex. This is most likely the new Hoenn Pokedex, going off Salamance's new number:
Salamance: Original number: 189. New number: 198. 9 total new Pokemon before him
Pichu: Original number: 155. New number: 162. 7 total new Pokemon before him.
Feebas: Original number: 140. New number: 145. 5 total new Pokemon before him.
EVOLUTIONS SINCE RSE:
Gallade: New Number 32
Probopass: New Number 62
Magnezone: New Number 85
Budew: New Number 97
Roselerade: New Number 99
Dusknoir: New Number 155
Chingling: New Number 157
Rhyperior: New Number 178
Frosslass: New Number 181
(Total: 9)
Total REGIONAL POKEMON: 209 (211 with Jirachi and Deoxys)
If they want to go for a more-even 210, Regigagas, who is usually associated with the Regis, could be thrown in.

GameFreak is leaving the regional dex largely the same, and I don't have my hopes up for post-game availability.

I bought Ruby first back in the day.
Kyogre wound up being my favorite of Groudon.
Blue is my favorite color.
I like Team Aqua's redesigns more than Team Magma.

In terms of competitive
Ho-Oh is better than Lugia (tho both are trash without HA really)
Palkia is better than Dialga (actually a good switch in on most Kyogre sets)

In terms of design
Ho-Oh is better than Lugia and Palkia and Dialga are about equal I'd say.

Fair enough. I liked Ho-Oh because of the colours, and I picked Pearl because my brother preferred Dialga. Otherwise I'm kinda indifferent when it comes to the DP legends design. I like 'em both.

On the bright side, P-Groudon will most likely be a common counter to Xerneas now that it can resist Fairy with Ground/Fire and can tank most of the coverage moves carried with the stats it has now and minor bulk investment. Just imagine what glorious stat boosts this beast will be getting.

On a related note, I can only see P-Kyogre getting more usage than current Kyogre sets if it gets perma-Rain so it can be used in Rain teams. Otherwise I think people will prefer the Scarf/Specs sets it currently runs.

Nice as that'd be, it's probably too slow to get off a powerful enough Eruption anyways. But the official site said it gets a big Attack boost, and the Fire-typing prevents Burns from crippling you, which is great.
