They checked in with him recently and gave him an update on Kalos.

His attitude towards them seems to have changed, since said Pikachu literally spirit bombed the fuck out of him. He probably thinks they're on a suicide mission or something

I think he came full circle with them. He went from valuing them to despising them to forgetting who they even were, and now he's back to treating them like normal.
