Sejun didn't just pick Pachi because he liked it, he picked it because it had a niche and helped his team achieve its goals. The problem is that most people just pick a bunch of random Pokemon they like and throw them together, regardless of how well they mesh as a team. That doesn't help anything since you're ignoring what makes a Pokemon useful in the first place.
