Intimidate is amazing in doubles, hitting the very few ghost types doesn't even matter. I use crunch on mine anyway, paired with taunt chesnaught to stop any aegislash from setting up.

You can't get much more creative than some combination of Energy Ball, Leaf Storm, Focus Blast, Hidden Power, and maybe Nature Power if you nasty.

Yes, but why would you use them? With 30% accuracy, you could fire off more than three attacks on average in the time it takes for an OHKO move to hit, and most of the things that get OHKO moves can at least 3HKO the overwhelming majority of threats.

Trying to bulk up my Kangaskhan without losing all of her Speed. Came up with this so far, but I get the feeling I'm missing something obvious:

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 204 HP / 92 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SDef / 140 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power-Up Punch
- Fake Out
- Return
- Crunch

If I'm using Showdown's damage calculator right, then it should be meeting these goals:
>Outspeeds Smeargle before Mega Evolving
>Outspeeds (scarfless) Base 85's after Mega Evolving
>Survives STAB Close Combat / Focus Blast up to 92 BST
>Survives Non-STAB Close Combat / Focus Blast up to 166 BST
>Even HP stat for extremely unlikely case of Wish passing
with the remaining EVs all thrown into Attack.

Any suggestions before I test it out?

Personally the only thing I see in Crunch > Sucker Punch is that Crunch always hits, even if the opponent didn't attack, so that could be good for catching your opponent off guard. Still, I'd probably run Sucker Punch.

Yeah I find Sucker Punch to be too easy to predict. It might help with not being 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe anymore, but so far I've never found the high chance of doing no damage to be worth it.

One really obnoxious strat that I see on Showdown every now and then is a Smeargle/Khan lead with typical turn 1 Fake Out + Dark Void. Then turn two Khan uses PuP and Smeargle Transforms into a +2 MKhan. Possibly still with a focus sash or other item

Building up a Crobat with Taunt to break stall and gimmicks, I dont know if I should go with Inner Focus or Infiltrator. Since Taunt can block subs and theres so much Fake Out going on.

I dont remember its exactly spread, but it has enough ATK to 2HKO Conkeldurr and Scrafty (after Intimidate) with Brave Bird. Also, it has max SPD (Jolly) and is kinda bulky in SpDef

Btw, it has Whirlwind as an egg move but I dont know if I should keep that.

I'd say Inner Focus is the superior option.

Whirlwind is nearly useless though. The best use it has is shuffle trick room setters out if you are really paranoid about mental herb.

Speaking of Crobat, I've always wondered why the thing is so used on rain teams. I've seen the thing used on rain team reports even since Gen 5. What's up with that? I can't really think of a thing Crobat helps with or patches on a rain archetype.

Nah, the ranking isn't so much the issue. That's just a number after all. What sucked was that I went on a huge losing streak caused by the RNG hating me and a few bad predictions on my end. The ranking on the ladder is just a way to put my awful streak into perspective.

The defensive presence from this thing is great but it's only ok offensively and has some nice moves like Icy Wind, Discharge, Foul Play, Thunder Wave and Recover for recovery

Hoping it's legal in VGC next year and that we get good move tutors back

Here's the spread I've got if anybody is interested
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
Bold Nature
EVs: 196 HP / 108 Def / 132 Spa / 68 Sdef / 4 Spe
The last 4 EVs couldn't go into anything, so I just threw them into Speed
- Recover
- Ice Beam / Icy Wind
- Discharge / Electroweb
- filler (protect, foul play, twave etc)

I never run into other people using them, so they're probably not all that important.

Still, my own team is really burn/paralysis bait. I can't count how often Florges' Aromatherapy has been the entire reason I won.

I guess just decide whether your team can actually benefit from a cleric role, and then whether you can stall two turns to use them before they die.

You do realize that is virtually identical to Gen 5's Pory2 and it was never particularly popular? The reason it never took off is as you said it lacks offensive presence, resistances and a movepool.

All it can do really is sponge very powerful neutral attacks and set up Trick Room. Most of the time it just means it dies to double targeting before it can recover. It was also huge Drain Punch bait and just because we have Fairies now I doubt it won't suddenly make Fighting attacks uncommon.

It really needs a huge change to it's movepool in ORAS or else it's simply going to be another non-factor.

What Hawlucha can do in dubs is Ally Switch (basically switches positions with its partner mon, works like a redirections of sorts but only has +1 priority) and it also has access to a pretty fast Quick Guard. It can also use Sky Drop wich can be useful depending on how you use it.

Other interesting tactics it has are Entrainment that you can use to take away an opponent's ability or you could give Unburden/Mold Breaker to an ally such as ,let's say, Garchomp to spam Mold Breaker EQs.

If you go Offensive its HJK can OHKO most megamoms and still outspeed them with an adamant nature, you need a boosting item (Life Orb, Expert Belt, Black Belt, Fist Plate) to take the bulkier ones though.

It also has acces to a fast taunt and also encore (a nice combo is when you can predict a Fake Out, block it with QG and proceed to encore the mon next turn).

You must be careful with Aegislash, MegaMan, Bravest Bird and Fairies when using this mon.

Depends on the Pokemon and the Tournament. Worlds generally features very bulky builds of Pokemon since to avoid common OHKOs and throw their opponent off guard. Mamoswine and Venusaur are the two classic ones. Mamoswine counters the common Garchomp and Salamence counters to CharY, while Venusaur is a monster in the sun and provides a lot of solid damage.

Also note that depending on your team, you may want to consider a Mega Stone on Venusaur as well, You'll lose out on some damage, but it can be great to not go Sun-mode against something like rain when your opponent might not be expecting Venusaur.

if taunt works for you and shores up a TR/smeargle/amoonguss weakness your team may have use it. Well when something like mega Lucario after a Nasty Plot has a 160 BP move that can't miss, and near Serperior levels of speed, surpassing most of the genies and tying their Special Attack too, thats what is known as a Disgusting amount of power.
It's simply too much and people dont want to deal with it, even though Lucario is probably rather proud of it

People don't generally run Imprison just to prevent protects. However, in the past it used to be somewhat useful to run Imprison on Chandelure, especially, to prevent Trick Room from being set. Running some calcs on our current Sceptile with a Grass/Dragon typing I get:

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Heat Wave vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Sceptile in Sun: 84-100 (47.4 - 56.4%) -- 85.5% chance to 2HKO

Meanwhile at +1 attack:

+1 0 SpA Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 100 HP / 4 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 67-79 (40.3 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

So Sceptile is definitely gonna want some boosts to both Special Attack and Defenses. On the bright side, Sceptile has so much natural speed that it won't need much investment to outspeed most base 100s.

In the end, though, I stand by my point that 70/65/85 beats 70/60/60.

I don't like Manectric as a mega not apart of a double mega but I can see how it works here. At first glance the team looks mane dependent. If mane is gone something like Char/Rotom-h+chomp. Though with these types of teams it depends on your play since it's one of those teams that look good on paper but can play like crap in play which is what I hate in this meta.

Only thing I dislike about that is volt switch is so weak. You are sacrificing a reliable stab for some form of utility. I always say test it out and see how you like it first. After all you have the final say on your team and volt switch could possibly work

To put things into perspective, I usually lead with Talonflame and another Pokemon of choice. If things look unfavorable for my other Pokemon, I protect. I try to get off a priority Tailwind. The sash allows it to survive a Rock Slide or Thunderbolt/Volt Switch with opens up Acrobatics for the next turn, or a suicide Flare Blitz against a threat such as M-Mawile, Aegilash or Ferro. I'm not sure how common Ferro is outside of Showdown, but I've run into him enough to be cautious.

The big downside to my speed strategy is one fakeout/double team against Flame means I don't get a Tailwind off and the rest of my team is seriously crippled. I'm also trying to get a good spread of Attack and Sp. Attack Pokemon who compliment each-other.

I'm considering possibly adding Ferro in place of Saur. The main reason I have him is as a counter to Fairy and Water Pokemon such as Rotom-W.

Again, I'm open to changes, so any comments would be appreciated.

I had Water Spout over Pulse, but switched it over, since I want to try it and see how it does. I had a Raichu, which I might put back on the team.

I've played around with the team a bunch. I'm really not liking ferrothorn much. It might get one move off but then it just dies. Most of the time it's dead weight.

Gonna try an amoonguss in its spot and see if it's any better. I do love using follow me togekiss so this might be a decent replacement. Either that or follow me lucario or some shit.

The worst are Pachi users that don't even know how to use him. Back before Worlds, I was messing around with my Pachi on cart after having heard a lot of buzz about him on the vgc chatroom and wanting to test him out. Even without having seen the Worlds champion brilliantly show how to use the squirrel, I realized that it was supposed to be paired up with a sweeper, like how Amoongus has generally always been used. Personally, I paired with with Azumaril, which while completely unoriginal was brutally effective on Battle Spot Doubles.

It's kind of a shame right now that so many people seem to have only absorbed from the match that Sejun used Pachi and not paying mind to the other members of his team and why Pachi was so good.

I will say, though that I'm going to miss opponents just haivng know idea what Pachi does. My favorite memory is from when I faced an opponent who tried to Guard Split his Shuckle onto his Eviolite Chansey. Pachi redirected it to himself while Azu got a Belly Drum off. My opponent forfeited immediately afterwards.

A lot of people do seem to selectively ignore the fact Mega Gyarados was the true lynchpin of Sejun's team plus they were also using the seldom seen Gothitelle. Most couldn't even imagine a champion team running one of those let alone all of them. Yet here we are, all done and dusted Gyarados is the king of Mega's.

Hell far as I know Ray kept shitting on Talonflame as awful yet look where he ended up...1-5 and using a very bog standard team

Whilst the Champion's team used it. Also the only player who even managed to make top cut using M-Khan was Yoshi who came 14th.

VGC '14 whilst having some of the most broken Pokemon won't be remembered for being stale. But for being of the most versatile/varied and finest moments of the game where many players rose to the occasion, defied expectations and I believe the competitive scene evolved beyond the old singles competitive fanbase.

Ashton Cox was pretty hyped as a dark horse early on, at first glance always looks like a gimmick noob.

But when you actually look at his teams and his play they're actually incredibly well structured and thought out. The only thing I'd hold against them is they still lack a lot of battling experience. They still make some mistakes now and again that...you just shouldn't ever make simply from experience.

Still huge props to the guy for going so far with Sawk and Aggron of all things.

To be perfectly fair, 6v6 Singles is an entire world away from 4v4 Doubles. Putting something like Mega Kanga against two opponents rather than just one really does change the dynamic.

I think it says more about the viability of 6v6 Singles as a competitive format than it does about Smogon. The game just isn't balanced for that format.

Strictly speaking, it can work but you're going to have to justify using Mantine over more conventional choices like Aegislash. Mantine's big issue is its massive Electric Weakness, which is killer with how common Manectric and Rotom-A is. I'd personally recommend Aegislash or a bulky fighter like Hariyama or Machamp for Wide Guard. Ashton Cox also used a Wide Guard Gigalith in Nationals.

Mawile definitely isn't a bad choice for TR (or VGC in general). Sucker Punch is fine in VGC, I don't know where you got that from. Switching is less common than in Singles and the only common status moves are things like burns and the occasional ddance.

Mamoswine in a popular counter. Haban berry Dragons also work well, if used properly. Gardevoir is also a great counter. The Scarf set outspeeds both (except Scarf Sally) and kills with Moonblast. The Specs set doesn't outspeed, but can kill with Dazzling Gleam and get some nice spread damage.

A bulky fighting type sounds excellent. The more I'm looking the more I'm favoring Hariyama though I understand the appeal of Machamp.

While I'm at it, are Dual Screens a good idea? My friend reccomended Carbink to me and a Power Gem can take care of a M-Charizard or Talonflame with Rocks up,so a Reflect/Light Screen/Sneaky Pebbles/Power Gem Carbink is something I'd like to try.

Other Pokemon I'd like to give a shot to are Octillery and Crustle, and obviously all these Pokemon are slow so it looks like I'm rolling in Trick Room..

no. in the case of intimidate, you get dropped 1 stage and raised two so you end up at 1.5. if icy wind hits your bisharp, you still take the speed drop but you get two stages of attack

I really hope TCPi gets it's shit together after this season. This year VGC was easily the most popular one of them all and Sejun's Pachirisu was the cherry on top of an already popular season.

As much as I hate to use the word, Pokemon has a lot of "e-sport" potential that is completely wasted. There's a fuckhuge space for growth and expansion but there's so much the players can do without proper support from the organizers themselves.

Sylveon isn't at it's prime in VGC cause no Hyper Voice atm. Haxorus is outclassed by chomp but it has a niche as a mold breaker eq mon.

You have a fairy/dragon/steel core which is really popular and very good so it's a decent idea.
