Most people enjoyed X/Y for what it was, liking the vast amount of Pokemon and great online features, though quite possibly being bugged by framerate drops and maybe faeries or Mega Evolutions. X/Y is like the Awakening of Pokemon, I'd say; the vast majority of the fans liked it, but a fair amount of "hardcore" individuals didn't, and they're quite vocal. Pokemon goes through quite the Zelda cycle, though; a lot of people would shit on Gen V here not too long ago, but now these gens are getting a good amount of love and they're shitting on VI.
Not to mention that the gen's not even done yet, so it's hard to make a concrete opinion.
