Hey thanks, because clearly I'm incapable of checking smogon.
Knowing basic sets doesn't do me any good if I don't play competitive. I don't know what to look out for or what Pokemon to use alongside him to cover his weaknesses. I never got into competitive and I'm not going to just use OU the Experience the 'git gud' since I don't even know most of the new metagame or the old for that matter. I'm still learning about the new abilities and moves implemented since Gen V.
I just want a viable team so I can play with my friends and use my favorites and was looking for ideas.

Why don't you look over the moves/abilities from Gen 5?

I don't play competitive because I'm not interested in spending hours upon hours on showdown or reading set lists and memorizing the moves that common Pokemon use because I don't have the time for it all. And I mention the OU the Experience 'meme' because that is the answer I'm always given when I ask how to get into competitive. I'm always told to use the top smogon Pokemon and play showdown until I figure the metagame out and I don't have the time nor patience for it. And I don't know what kind of friends you play Pokemon with, but mine actually spend time building their own sets and have been playing since Red and Blue, carrying along some of the same guys from the get go. hell, one of them actually does play smogon and showdown sets, which is why I'm trying to make a viable team because the way I'm used to battling is the in-game style of just using offensive moves. I don't know why you're so upset.

I suggest Protecting first before using Fling so you get an extra chance to Protect again and stall out more afterward.

Reading set lists and memorizing moves? Do you even know what you're talking about? You don't need to do any of that. Stop acting like competitive battling is some big monster for pokemon elitists. I thought that way for a while too, its not true at all. Just jump on showdown, pick 6 pokemon you like, look up generic movesets for them to start with, and play some games. As you get a feel for your team you can swap out moves or items for whatever better fits what you think you need on your team when you get a feel for things. Its actually really easy and simple. You don't need help team building. Start with generic movesets then swap things out if you think something else would fit better.

Anybody can spam OHKO moves and just climb the ladder, you also never see them in official places like VGC because they're uncompetitive as hell

It's only Swagger in conjunction with Foul Play, the Steel nerf and the fact that we got more Swagplay users this gen (Thundurus came down to OU and we got Klefki)
Whole SwagPlay teams are fucking stupid because they take the game out of the players control and make it solely based on RNG on who wins
