First off, it can't have Imposter before Mega Evolving, because that would activate before it can Mega Evolve.
But, once you Mega Evolve it, it will immediately transform into the opponent's Pokemon for the rest of the match. You essentially steal their Pokemon: item, full PP moves, stats, even HP, everything. You can switch it out and it'll still remain as it is.
