apparently they were making a joke for the fans on how a fiery and violent pokemon as Hydreigon was being "owned" (x4 by fairy) by such a cute thing as Sylveon. Of course it wasn't a long time before pixiv got flooded with tons of pics of that pair.
Because, you know, Japan rolls on its own special sauce, so to speak. Also, they love "contrasty pairs", like tough-guy-teased-by-cute-girl or thug-girl-falling-in-love-with-weak-wormbook-boy, etc: that kind of shit is very popular in their series.
too bad that shit doesn't happen in real life and our world is much much harder...
