That's a recent thing, though. Gen V Smogon was pretty okay (though they refused to ever go back on Aldaron's Proposal even after BW2 gave us Keldeo and Therians and showed just how bad an idea allowing permanent rain to remain in OU was).

I was willing to defend Smogon up until the point where they banned Aegislash - Aegislash has a couple viable sets, but it's far from the kind of guess-correctly-or-lose shenanigans that you saw with the likes of Mega Lucario.

Smogon doesn't even ban things based on whether or not they're broken. They ban them if everyone's complaining or if Haunter gets absolutely rekt.
If Azumarill does get banned, it'll be because of bellyjet, but since thats a "complicated" ban they'll end up banning Azumarill instead of just that set, because they're a bunch of lazy assdicks. Just look at Blaze Blaziken.

Thundurus is the one most likely to go. I'm not quite sure about Landorus.

can easily force switches and belly drum and then priority kill with its stupid high ATK stat which is backed up with its STAB aqua jet.

it has decent bulk, but it isn't anything special imo. its an easy 2hko with neutral damage just switch in a bulky type that can take a aqua jet to the face or force a switch with pokemon like ferrothorn which forces the azumarill to lose 50% its hp to belly drum and then some to iron barbs on the switch in.

Its a one trick pony that does lots of damage to teams if you don't know how to deal with it.

I'm not complaining i enjoy using them and dont mind fighting them, but it wreaks havoc.
It seems likesomething they would ban.
Only down side is stealth rocks and rock in general.

I wish there was a simulator that defaulted to official rules. I don't give a shit about evasion clause or any shit like that, sure it's frustrating, but those moves are in the game for the reason and they have counters.

Banlists are a snowball effect, they ban something good and then if it countered something else they ban that too because now it doesn't have a counter. Official banlists are fine, the only reason for smogon banlists is so you can use weaker pokemon that you like, more often than because the pokemon in question is completely gamebreaking and uncounterable. A good example of snowball banning is when M-Gengar and M-Kangaskhan were banned back to back, because they were hard counters to each other, and with one removed from the meta the other became overpowered.

It makes sense, though. Putting muscle behind a kiss is pretty silly when you think about it, which means that the Pokemon probably just uses their lips as a conduit for their Fae energies. It's like how Petal Dance is a Special attack that still makes contact because the user is attacking with the magical plants whipped up by the dance and not the dance itself.
