they don't, you just have to hope for the best. If you absolutely can't stand mming and the gender being wrong again, I don't think changing the gender with power saves changes much coding. I hatched ralts my let hunt for a gallade, first shiny was female but then the next shiny hatched male a box later with the perfect spread and HA. Dont give up!

Admittedly, I'm usually not gender picky with shinies(I have a shiny male Bellossom for example), it'd just be nice to for things to be mixed up more often(that and I have specific names in mind, plus plans for shinies of Buneary and Audino).

Guys, after only 379 SR, he finally showed up. The battle wasn't that intense but I brought it down to the yellow until I was too scared to attack again. Threw a few ultra balls (I ran out of balls which Kurt gave me) and after a few tries it stayed in the ultra ball. Still no idea what name to give him but my day has been made.

Personally I go with Trace, it really neutralizes a lot of pokemon and can make for hilarious situations.

One time I switched into a Stall Gliscor, Traced Poison Heal, and was hit with Toxic that same turn. GG.

I don't find it that bad really, I've still got that excitement factor that any one of these encounters could be the one! I don't have the shiny charm as I have only completed the dex in X so I'm not too surprised I haven't gotten it yet but I don't think I'm far enough in yet to start complaining.

As for the shiny lock thing I don't get it either. It is kinda dumb but there's not much I can do about it.

Same. Though the only thing I got left for the Pokedex is Legends and item-trade evolutions. I've already gotten three shinies via breeding by sheer luck. Though, in my experience, actually going for something means I won't get it in a timely manner.

One of the other people hunting for Ho-Oh here - today I'll be trying to get up to 600 SRs. Jealous of that other guy up there, that's like only 4 hours of work. You're going to spent hundreds of hours resetting something that'll probably have a shit nature and will almost definitely have shit IVs. And it won't appear any more legitimate than a genned one.

People in these threads have reset thousands of times for weeks on end only to get unusable shinies. It's a lot of work to go for just to get a box trophy.
