Steel has the most resistances, for sure, but as was said before the things that smash it are SUPER common. The current metagame(and most metagames before, actually) are filled to the brim with close combat and/or fire blast and/or earthquake on practically every offensive pokemon. Some teams even have one of those types of moves on nearly every pokemon on the fucking team. Answers are handed out in droves for them, especially now that they no longer resist dark so they can nuke you with knock off while also tossing out your leftovers or whatever defensive support thing you had on the mon.
Seriously, this rant is no less than a generation too late. The only thing that even made Ferrothorn relevant in the last generation was the prevalence of rain weakening the effectiveness of fire. Every single steel type that is otherwise an absolutely perfect wall gets totally shattered by common Achilles heels.
