>>20679163>Was this a necessary addition to the type chart? No. The Dragon type itself wasn't broken, it was more ridiculous shit like Garchomp and Palkia that needed some kind of nerf. So now Druddigon, Flygon, Kingdra etc. have to feel the pain for something they weren't part of.
Garchomp/Dragonite/Salamence could have conceivably been more balanced if GF had made Ice resistant to Dragon, so it would allow them to switch it on a Dragon move, and scare them away. Tyranitar is massively powerful, but a Fighting type resists both of his STABs and can easily OHKO him, which keeps him in check. Garchomp etc. didn't have a weakness like that, because there's basically no Ice type that can safely switch in on him. I don't understand why GF refuses to give Ice any kind of buff, despite desperately needing one.
>Did it do more harm than good, the other way around, or in between?Harm. It made the type chart even more lopsided, and is probably more broken than Dragon ever was. Weak to two awful attacking types, and resistant/strong against some of the best attacking types. Not to mention that they rendered Ice even more useless, and took a big shit all over Bugs, who were just starting to become decent with Gen V.
It just seems like a bad idea, introducing a new type this late into the series lifespan. I don't think anyone ever thought Dragons were as bad as Gen 1 Psychics, who pretty much had no weaknesses.
