Is it possible to beat a nuzlocke without grinding at all?

I've been doing a Platinum nuzlocke with no grinding, and I'm having the worst time of my life, I'm lucky if I can get through Fantina (who I'm about to battle with) without losing 4 team members.

Am I doing it wrong by not grinding?
Also, screw those early Gible with Dragon Rage.

Oh god, Platinum is a masochist's Nuzlocke.

If you want to make it interesting, don't grind too often or purposely seek too many Trainers. But you might want to do so every once in a while...

It's my first time going for a nuzlocke, I read that Platinum was likely the hardest, but I didn't expect this much frustration...
So far, the only training I give to my team are the trainer battles, but that is obviously not enough, and my team isn't really ready to deal with Fantina's Mismagius:

Yes I'm Pokemon Y I didn't have one Pokemon faint. I mean yeah it's just Pokemon Y but it's still possible.

That's what I wanted to hear.

Also, does anyone have any tips on what I should do if I need to give Surf or Waterfall to a pokemon but I dont have any on my team that can learn it?

Right now, my biggest problem is that my Luxio doesn't seem to be able to endure a second Shadow Ball from even a Haunter, plus my Bronzong, even though he has the highest sp.def in my team, is too slow to do anything or even take some hits.
Why did I have to pick Platinum as my first nuzlocke...

Of course they would all spam Confuse Ray, but at least I now have raised my sp.def 4 or 5 times, seems to be enough

Playing nuzlocke made me realize how valuable those stat-increasing moves can be, since they have saved my ass plenty of times by now.
