It's no concidence that Ruby/Sapphire were the first games after Pokemon had officially become uncool. If you were laughed at for playing a Pokemon game, chances were it was for Gen III or maybe Gen VI. Gen V was where people had grown out of their adolescent insecurity phase (mostly) and Gen VI sealed the deal for Pokemon being back to accepted, if not obsessed about like in Gens I and II.

So people who bitch incessantly about Gen III are probably the same dweeb kids who didn't play it because it was no longer in, and tried to be cool by being douchebags to the kids that did play it. It seems they haven't changed much in all that time, sadly.

A shame it will likely not do well but megas were a terrible idea to hook people in vs giving normal evolutions to pokes that need it. Wonder how many fans will buy the remakes given that gen 3 did the worse as a new entry to a generation.
