Why does Gamefreak hate flying type moves? There are only a handful of good ones and their distribution is terrible - if you're a physical flying type and aren't inherently bird-like you can say goodbye to Brave Bird and have to make do with shit like Aerial Ace.
I suppose there's Acrobatics but it forces you to run sets that are itemless or require setting up, unlike last gen when we had the flying gem.

I still think Croagunk was supposed to be poison dark.

It learns all those fucking dark moves, and the one fighting move it learns deals with the seedy underhanded theme that underlies the Dark type.

If you play LC, Azurill doesn't get Play Rough unlike it's evolutions. It's STAB Huge Power Returns makes up for it though.

I just lost whatever little respect I still had for Gyarados, I have never really used it so I have no idea how good it is, but realizing that it can only utilize one of its types while still having the weaknesses of dual types sucks. At least they made his mega form water dark, why can't he be dragon instead of flying? many dragon oriented trainers seem to have it in their party.

Gyarados has been the tightest shit since 1996, or since before you were born

If you have two brain cells to rub together, it's actually pretty easy to exploit his secondary types, and he's powerful enough to really not need Flying or Dark STAB.

For whatever reason GF doesn't want Gyarados to have proper secondary STAB. I mean Bounce, seriously? That's pretty much the worst physical Flying move they could come up with, and it's not even an egg move. If you want a legit Gyarados with Bounce, it's time to dig up that Pokewalker because Dream World is dead. However, Gyarado's Mega Evolution is even worse. GF makes it Dark-type but doesn't give it Crunch, even though Gyarados has been able to learn Bite since Gen I. It really feels like they did this on purpose, because they gave other Mons news moves just so that they would have something to go with their new ability or typing (Blastoise getting Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere and others, Ampharos getting Dragon Pulse). I have a really hard time believing that they just forgot about Gyarados.

Unless you just have it out for Mega Venusaur, Gyarados doesn't need Flying or Dark STAB for that matter. Dragon Dance, Waterfall, and Earthquake can sweep entire teams. Throw in Mold Breaker and Ice Fang and now every Rotom forme, Dragonite, Garchomp, and Salamence get demolished too.

Unless you're going for a practically uninvested support Gyarados and just want STAB instead of coverage there's really no point.

Waterfall alone is scary on gyarados, that 30% flinch is too real. Literally all it needs is priority and it would be a S rank pokemon for sure.

Not knowing how dangerous Bounce is on Gyarados proves without a doubt that you haven't played the game for real.Even motherfuckers that resist flying don't want to switch into Gyarados's Bounce and risk the paralysis. Because then you're fucking crippled in front of one of the most badass critters in the game for 6 gens running.
