So I put together a little roll thread for sort of a "roguelike" pokemon playthrough. Roll to see what type of trainer class to play as, then do a nuzlocke through your game of choice, adhering to the stylings of your class as closely as possible. If you can start the game with a team that fits your class, GREAT! If not, simply make it your first priority to gain a team that will suffice. Most of these classes are pretty self explanatory but some might need some extra rules added to them. I did this quickly before work so it's just a rough draft and anyone is welcome to add/remove classes as they see fit for a new chart. And if anyone likes this idea enough to do an infograph for it, Feel free! If not, I'll likely return later to fix one up. This chart was inspired by a series of youtube videos which will be linked below - descriptions of each class are detailed within the videos. For simplicity (and lack of time) I divided the classes into sections based on the videos that contain them. Rules: Pick a video and roll. Last two digits decides your class. For added randomization, The digit before your last 2 decides the video as follows. 0-3 Video 1 4-6 Video 2 7-9 Video 3 Again, this is a rough draft and I've excluded several trainer classes I felt didn't fit the idea of this thread. (such as "Champion") Everyone is welcome to adjust the roll chart for balance and/or completion.>Roll Chart to follow.

>>20712020 I'm trying to work something out too. I noticed there are a couple classes left out from the first video. For classes like gym leader or evil team member, there should be a sub-roll for which type. Or, each class and subclass/subtype could be given an individual number (instead of a range) and the three digits could be used entirely to decide class.
Anonymous

>>20709064 Sure, I'll add that in. I'm looking at adding in a few more I glazed over.
>>20711801 I'm thinking of doing away with the video separation of rolls once I finish the infographic so 2 digits will probably be all that's needed.
>>20712105 Yup!
Anonymous
>>20712153 That could work well. I initially went with the ranges to allow for small adjustments within a roll to fit the player's style. I think an optional secondary roll would be a good choice
Anonymous
>>20712193 Then some things could still be grouped. You could group three or four pokemon types for gym leader. It depends on what the roller is looking for in a challenge though. Does he want a definitive class with strict, possibly difficult rules or does he want a little wiggle room? And will he really want to follow through if he has to make two or three sub-rolls without getting too confused?
Anonymous
>>20712312 I don't think I want any more than 2 rolls involved for any given player. So the gym leader for example would require first a roll into gym leader, then one more role to establish type.
Honestly the only reason Gym Leader stayed in was to provide a solid class basis for monotype trainers.
Anonymous
>>20712312 >>20712388 Now that I think about it, could we place every class into a pokemon type they use? Just spitballing here.
Anonymous
>>20712388 Right. Gym leader isn't the only example it applies to though. There are evil team members, champion, cool trainer/ace trainer/veteran/rising star, juggler/street performer/clown/harlequin. I've only gotten through the first video so far, so I'm not sure about the others.
>>20712420 That's not a bad idea, but so many classes use multiple pokemon types. How could we easily label them all while still including the varying types? Plus, some "types" are cute pokemon or monster egg group pokemon.
Anonymous
>>20712464 On the point of missing classes, I purposefully left some out because they kind of defeated the point of the roll. For instance, cool/ace/veteran/rising star all use "well balanced teams full of strong pokemon." Which is essentially a regular playthrough. Some others were left out by accident or because I didn't really know how a player could follow the guidelines of that class without it being open season on pokemon choice. What do you think?
On your second comment, I was thinking about either placing the multitype trainers in every type group they use OR only placing them in their PRIMARY type group. As far as the cute, monster egg, etc... Maybe those would be in their own type group labeled "Misc.".... Or maybe it'd be better to toss the type grouping idea and move on?
Anonymous
>>20712551 I think to stray from the rough layout you already have would be more confusing. Maybe if you could give an example?
I watched the first video and wrote guidelines for each class. Maybe seeing my outline will help. This is what I came up with:
http://pastebin.com/wSAUyvxa Roll numbers may be able to be two digits if we don't go over 99 classes. Some grouping here to avoid this would be ideal.

>>20712644 >http://pastebin.com/wSAUyvxa I like your layout of the groups to stay away from multiple roles. I would tend to want to eliminate the champion class unless it's stipulated that you have to go through the whole game specifically with that champion's team and ONLY with that team.

Shit. Which game do I want to play, though? It'd have to be a game that has most of its routes with rare pokemon, so I might actually catch something at some point. Also, what should I define rare as, 5% or less or 10% or less?
Borderline FC:1048-8624-4385

New version: I think class-wise, 01-95 are pretty much set. Rules can be changed.
