Colours are bland. lots of dull green and brown and blue. Environment is boring to explore because there's barely anything that looks interesting.
Pre-gym 2 is a nightmare. Boring pokemon -- a dog, cat, and patrat. literally these are your only choices, and if you pick tepig, you either need to catch one for HM cut (or pick one of those godawful looking monkeys which again, look like shit and their evos don't help that). At least the variety opens up after gym 1, but holy shit I hate seeing those same 3 mons every time I boot up a new playthrough, and being forced to use some of them and then only fight trainers that use them.
And then the fucking twins don't let you go to the second town unless you have two pokemon in your party.
besides that the game is fine i guess, its just the one game that I always get bored playing by the 4th gym and stop because it all seems so dull. the new town additions to BW2 were amazingly fleshed out in comparison and spiced up the gen
