So if Kalos is France, is Unova America? and if so was the Pokémon war WWII and AZs weapon representing a nuclear bomb? Im not sure if you guys have been over this but if you haven't I think it would be interesting to discuss.

Yeah, that's true. But there are arid places in NewYork that resemble that aria. the map designers may have tried to compress the different arias of the state into the metropolitan map.

I think you might be thinking a bit too liberal with possible timelines there. AZ built and used the weapon 3000+ years ago. That's what they refer to as the "Great War" in Kalos. If you wanna delve into weird details, it's possible that there was a much less widespread war within recent history of the Pokemon world as Lt. Surge is referred to as "The Lightning American" in Red/Blue, though nowadays that'd probably be retconned to "The Lightning Unovan". He's obviously from a different region than Kanto either way, but he wears military style gear and has a personality similar to a drill sergeant, so Unova/Wherever he's from still has a standing military, and possibly a military presence in Kanto/Other regions. I'd probably equate the "Great War" to something more along the lines of the War of the Roses but with a nuke, and whatever has happened (if anything at all) recently is just minor skirmishes.

No, and no.

They are inspired by those locations, yes, but don't directly correlate to them geographically.

In the Pokémon world, there is no France, or America, or geographical mirrors.

They are their own locations, that are designed and inspired by Real World locations.

For all intents and purposes, Kalos and Unova could be right next to each other, because theres no established continents or anything like that.

Clay + Castelia was about all they could fucking do before shit became boring. America just isnt fun.

They added Hollywood in the sequels.

Thats all America is known for. Big Cities, Cowboys, and Hollywood. And fat people, but you cant really have that in Pokemon.

Point is, they did the best they could with that shithole for inspiration.

Not England, France, America.

They've addressed this multiple times. When they first made Pokémon, they were trying to slot Kanto into the real world, hence referring to Surge as American. But when the franchise exploded, they decided it would be better if the Pokémon world was entirely its own thing. It's locations may draw inspiration from real world locations, but they dont actually represent them.

A good example is in the anime, which also follows this.

The Lati@s movie was inspired by Venice, but the characters dont fucking travel to PokéItaly. It was just a location in the Pokémon World that was inspired by Venice.

Kalos is the same. A Region in a fictional world that is inspired by France.
