I didn't bother reading the thread, I've just passed by it a few times and have a quick question; how do you begin building up a respectable stable of pokemon for trade? I read around and I see it's in bad taste to trade shitmons for penta/hexa perfects.

I want to start a doubles team but I'm first wondering how to even get started on getting stronger pokemon.

Most giveaways involve shinies w/ (possible) balltism or good egg moves, since it's what most people do.

Speaking of The Slowpokes I'm currently breeding have Block as egg moves and will have Dream Ball, since the only Balltism I could think of (Master Ball) can't pass down in breeding.

Old way: Breed a thing from scratch, keep a perfect male, and use that as a parent for other Pokemon in the egg group, and go from there.

Now that 5IVs are so common, you can grab them in places like /wfg/ who give away 5IVs on a regular basis. Use those as parents and keep breeding different things.

The point of this thread is to not reply to GTS giveaways, only event ones that require FCs. Simply put up a disc or whatever they ask for and put the message as "vp". Replying is just unnecessary. It'll make the thread a lot less cluttered this way.

Proposed formats for giveaways:

1. Person holding the giveaway states what Pokemon they will be giving away
2a. Put (Pokemon, usually a Luvdisc) up with whatever message the person holding the giveaway asks for
OR
2b. Add the person holding the giveaway and trade
3. If the giveaway is a GTS one, DO NOT reply to the person holding the giveaway; it's unnecessary and only makes the thread cluttered
4. The person holding the giveaway replies to their post when the giveaway is done

Giveaway general
1. If you are giving away pokemon state the pokemon you are giving away, the pokemon you want for it, and (optional) the message attached to that pokemon
2. Do not reply to people giving away on gts. It is not necessary and your thanks and gratitude are already known and accepted.
3. Reply to yourself when your giveaway is finished informing the thread it is done.
4. No begging giveaway hosts for specific giveaways.
5. If someone replies to a giveaway, gently remind them this is not necessary.
