Seeing both versions of the original movie, I can say from experience that I could not stand the japanese version one bit. It felt heartless to me, and I dont know what
>>20720803 is talking about, because there was horrific differences in the soundtrack. I spat out my drink when organ pipes started playing. Everything was horribly unfitting. And the Mew thing was hyped up by every damn weeb to ever post in a Pokémon Movie thread, and it almost irritated me. It wasnt "deep", or more mature in any way. It took a character presented as cute and innocent, and made it an antagonist for the sole purpose of trying to squeeze a generic "Nature VS Technology" arguement into the movie. However, the dubs choice in making Mew more naive, and argue for the case of equality was far more fitting and well presented.
I seriously can't take anybody who defends the japanese version seriously.
I can't speak for the other movies, and I agree that 4kids is shit more often than not, but strictly speaking for the first movie, the Dub was far superior.
