No one tries to argue for Ruby and Sapphire being the best, given that Emerald exists. And the general sentiment is that Diamond and Pearl were shit.
I'm not sure why I keep buying the first game in each new generation.

Emerald's story was a mesh of both Ruby and Sapphire's stories put together, able to obtain all three of the legends, and wasn't a "Magma / Aqua was the bad guys depending on the version."
They both showed how they were in the right/wrong for their motives, there was no blatant side taking.

I absolutely loved B2/W2. Outside of those times playing it as a kid, it was the first game I thought to myself, "damn, that was a good game" after I completed it. PWT/Black Tower have to be the coolest post-game things to do in all of pokemon.

Agreed but I do have one problem with PWT: how on earth am I supposed to get 60+ BP for those ev training items? I need to ev train to win, but j don't want to do it the regular way, and winning tourneys only gives 1 BP...

I am missing a bunch of things, I even purposely omitted musicals... Even so, that's a hell of a lot of post game content.

It also had some of the best music in the main series IMO.

Incredible game. I certainly think it's the best.

I think part of why I disliked X&Y was because of how much I liked Gen 5/mainly B&W2. Personally Unova is my favorite region. Kalos just didn't stand up to B&W2 Unova. There were just so many cool little areas and details that Kalos seemed to really lack. I couldn't really get a feel for Kalos other than a hamfisted "ITS FRANCE" vibe.
