If you are seriously considering it, assuming you live in the US, you can get 4 large, clear pegboards for under 7 bucks on Amazon, and the perler website has an offer of the more you buy the cheaper they get. There are other websites too but I believe the official one sells them for cheaper, although a website called koolstuff4kids sometimes get better offers and give free shit.
If you are planning to do a few sprites, you can get the sprite and get a software like
paint.net to count every pixel and determine how many you will be using.
